Adventures in Custom Textile Development Part 2 (Read Part 1)
Just to refresh your memories, I’ve been working all year to have a line of new, custom fabrics developed for my collection. This is the first time I’ve undertaken something of this nature, so it’s been quite the learning experience! I’ve worked with quite a variety of fabrics in my day and often I find myself dissatisfied with how the fabric sews, washes or wears, so I knew this was going to be challenging.
Designer, Jennifer Fukushima is looking forward to visiting Vancouver this November. She will be exhibiting her line of Canadian made sweaters at the Circle Craft Christmas Market and paying a visit to some extended family.
In keeping with her love for Canada and its native flora, Jennifer named each garment after a tree species native to Ontario. Here are the the trees that inspired the Monilifera Blazer, the Velutina Pullover, and the Occidentalis Cardigan.
